K - 2nd Grade BEGINNER Division RULES

  • Teams will be made up of Kindergarten and 1st graders and or 1st and 2nd graders
  • All games will be played 3 on 3
  • Teams will play on 8ft goals
  • Games will consist of  4 ten-minute quarters
  • Mandatory substitutions will be made every 5 minutes
  • No full court press, defense must wait behind half court
  • Players must play man to man
  • No double teaming of players
  • Stealing of the ball is permitted


Competitive Division 

3rd - 8th Grade COMPETITIVE Division RULES

  • Games will consist of 4 10-minute quarters
  • 5 minute warm-up (time may be shorter if time is restricted)
  • 10 second break between quarters
  • 3 minute halftime
  • Clock only stops the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter, unless opposing team has a 15 point lead or greater
  • 2 timeouts per game (1 full timeout in the 1sthalf, 1 full timeout in the 2ndhalf)
  • 1st overtime: 3 minutes (1-full timeout), 2ndovertime: 2 minutes (30 second timeout), 3rdovertime: 1 minute sudden death, first to make a basket wins (no timeouts)
  • No playing time requirements for competitive divisions. Playing time is based on the discretion of the coach/team
  • No substitution requirements for competitive divisions. Substitution is based on the discretion of the coach
  • All teams must stop full court press when they have a 15-point lead or greater
  • Only those players and coaches whose names appear on the original website roster may sit on the team bench
  • Players and coaches must have their pictures uploaded onto the Elite Youth Sports NM system
  • Players and coaches who do not have their pictures uploaded on to the Elite Youth Sports NM system will not be allowed to play that particular scheduled game
  • Any player/coach/or spectator who is ejected from the game will have to leave the premises before the game can resume play or the game will be forfeited by the team with the ejection
